Location: Polgooth

Lying between the parishes of St Mewan and St Ewe, Polgooth is an historic tin mining village with property ranging from period cottages to modern manor houses. In its mining hay day, Polgooth, heralded as the "greatest tin mine in the world", was heavily invested into by one Mr Charles Rashleigh who built the port of Charlestown. Polgooth's mining history ended in the early nineteen hundred’s and it is now a thriving suburban village which is also home to a busy post office/general store, hairdressers and a sixteenth century public house, the Polgooth Inn, which is renowned as an outstanding gastro-pub. Many of the village's period feature buildings still remain with both the village's original stamping mill and count house now converted into residences. Nearby at Pentewan is a beautiful sandy beach as well as a trail providing miles of coastal walks.

Cornwall

In a wider context, Cornwall has been enjoying a renaissance, especially post Brexit. It offers a range of accessible attractions such as the Eden Project, the National Maritime Museum, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, and the Tate Gallery. The Cathedral City of Truro is the main financial and commercial centre of Cornwall and has a fine range of stores, private schools, college and the main hospital in the county (RCH Treliske). Both Falmouth University and Cornwall Airport at Newquay are rapidly expanding. The market town of St Austell offers a wide range of facilities as well as a main line railway station with direct links to London Paddington.
